# Lavalink Hosting

> A Lavalink node run by Zero Development for the Music module, so you do not host your own.

The [Music](/docs/medusa/modules/music) module streams audio through Lavalink, a separate Java server. Running one yourself means Java, 1 to 2 GB of memory and keeping its plugins up to date. Lavalink Hosting gives you a node we run instead. The Full Source license includes it.

## Setting It Up

1. Buy **Lavalink Hosting** on [BuiltByBit](https://builtbybit.com/medusa).
2. In the [Zero Development Discord](https://discord.zerodev.ca), run `/claim` and enter your BuiltByBit invoice.
3. Restart Medusa.
4. On the dashboard, open **Configs > Music > Lavalink Connection** and set **Connection** to **Hosted**.

Medusa gets the node's details from your license and connects on its own. There is nothing else to enter.

## Using Your Own Node

Without the add-on, or if you would rather run your own, set **Connection** to **Self-hosted** and fill in:

| Setting | What to enter |
| -------------------- | ------------------------------------ |
| Lavalink Host | The node's address. |
| Lavalink Port | Usually `2333`, or `443` behind SSL. |
| Lavalink Password | The node's password. |
| SSL / TLS Encryption | On if the node uses HTTPS. |

Save and Medusa reconnects straight away. [Haven Development](https://havendevelopment.net) also sells Lavalink nodes if you want one of your own without managing it.
